City Hall Library & Mizzica Gelateria

Yesterday, I went to City Hall Library and Mizzica Gelateria & Cafe. City Hall Library is a 6-minute walk to Queen Station and to Osgoode Station. It is also a 12-minute walk to Mizzica Gelateria & Cafe.

City Hall Library is a small library located inside City Hall.

Children's library with colorful rug, small tables, and chairs. Bookshelves and educational posters line the walls. Bright and inviting space.
Stacks of books. A large painting of a cityscape hangs on a gray wall above.

The only thing that is unique about this library is the Poet Laureate Reference Collection. I did not know that the collection was a reference collection until I tried to check out a book of poetry. There should be better signing around the collection.

Bookshelves with the City of Toronto Poet Laureate Collection. Notable book: George Elliott Clarke's "Canticles." Wood-paneled background.
I don't see anywhere that says Reference Collection

Outside the formal library, there were pictures of the neighbourhood from the 1900s.

Historical city scene with people walking, a streetcar, and buildings. Sign reads "Furniture Carpets." Black-and-white, early 1900s.
This picture is from 1907.
Historic city map with wards, streets, and buildings. Prominent Osgood Hall. Light orange and yellow hues. Text details Toronto layout.

Outside City Hall, there was a turtle sculpture and Old City Hall.

Modern dome structure and stone turtle sculpture in a courtyard. Background with a historic building and trees. Calm, overcast day.
Old City Hall with a clock tower in front of modern skyscrapers. People walk and sit on a sunny day in a plaza with flags.

On the way to Mizzica Gelateria & Cafe, I saw a cool graffiti wall, and I walked past the CTV building.

Brick building with vibrant murals; left depicts colorful figure, right shows serene blue landscape with trees. Urban street setting.
Truck crashing through building wall beneath CTV logo. Gray brick background, dynamic impact effect, lively urban setting.
I wonder how they got the car in the wall

When I got to Mizzica Gelateria & Cafe, there was a small line.

Bright neon sign reads "You can't be sad with gelato in your hand" in shop with blue leaf-patterned walls and gelato machine.

I ordered one flavour, which was Crema di pistachio al lampone, which translates to Raspberry pistachio cream. This was the best pistachio ice cream I have ever had.

Potted plant with pink flowers beside a book with a green-yellow cover. Ice cream with Mizzica wafer and blue spoon on a table mat. Cozy setting.

I cannot believe that the owners won an award for best coffee.

Blue patterned plate and framed certificate on white brick wall, adorned with vibrant pink flowers. Text reads “Caffè Vergnano Coffee competition.”

Overall, City Hall Library was very accessible, but disappointing and Mizzica Gelateria & Cafe were not as accessible, but amazing.
